Of course, coffee, interior space, and even community content. In modern times, 'cafes' serve various purposes. If you were to choose a cafe where you can experience the various fun of Tongyeong, it would definitely be Sammundang. The reason Sammundang is special is because of the heritage of the space. The owner's idea was to utilize the space of Sammundang Frame Shop, which his father used, and to build a cafe concept centered around frames. No matter where you look inside the cafe, there are only seats you want to sit in. The interior of the cafe is decorated with a vintage atmosphere to utilize the frames.

When I stood in front of the building, I thought it was not a business day. I found out that the first floor was a roastery, and it was only open during certain hours. If you go up the stairs on the left side of the building, you can enter Sammundang Cafe. Sammundang Coffee is well-known in Tongyeong, so much so that local residents visit regularly. Perhaps because of the sensibility of the space, Sammunsa Coffee is particularly fragrant.

I sat at the bar table facing the owner. The space, which is filled with Korean sentiment thanks to the signage, contrasts with the owner’s hip style. Suddenly, what caught my eye was the signage and LP record visible beyond the coffee dripper. After hearing the owner’s story about his love of music, I thought that the Sammundang space itself was built through the owner’s storytelling.

The space is attractive, but Sammundang's strength is its coffee. It has a rich acidity and aroma, but the aftertaste is clean. Since Sammundang is a roastery cafe, I had high expectations for the taste of the coffee, but I didn't have even a little bit of disappointment. Everyone has their own preferences, but I think there is no disagreement that Sammundang provides good coffee.
